One of the main earners for me the past year has been adsense but it’s not been something that I have actively concentrated on. As I am getting more confident with my SEO abilities I think it’s time to go after something a lot bigger than just the easy low paying keywords and aim higher.
The education niche is one of the most competitive markets online and if you look at the amounts advertisers are paying in adwords you can see prices go over $50 a click to compete on certain keywords. So I set myself the task of getting a website ranked in this niche and decided I would record my progress over a monthly basis to upload to my blog.
The website in question is http://nursingschoolsinillinoishelp.com and I got it up and running on the 26th of October 2011, two months have passed and so far I have done some simple link building and managed to hit position 19 in Google. So far so good considering the company I am in, all the websites around my website are .gov and .edu so this isn’t going to be easy! Also the site ranking number one for the keyword “nursing schools in illinois” is the official college for nursing in illinois and that will be tough to outrank BUT I am not even on page one yet so I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
So now I am trying to get the site further up the search rankings and hopefully the next time I make a video I will be on page one for the main keyword. I am going to order some high PR backlinks and a PAD submission service which should get the job done, I also might purchase Article Marketing Robot and add it to my backlinking arsenal. I have been seeing a lot of case studies where AMR comes out on top so it should be a good move.
